The Ø-Beatis our club's newsletter, packed full of information about amateur radio activities in the local region, and with other information affecting you.The Ø-Beatis mailed out monthly to arrive in your mail box the week before the regularly scheduled club meeting. So you should get your copy usually in the first week of each month.
As part of your PPRAA membership, you can get the Ø-Beatdelivered to you in one of several ways.
- The tried and true method is to receive your Ø-Beat in the U.S. Mail as a paper copy. This is the original method, around since Day One, and will always be available. By default, it's the way you'll get your first Ø-Beat.
- The second way you can get your Ø-Beat is to ask for it to be delivered to you as an e-mail attachment. The Ø-Beat will be e-mailed to you once a month as a PDF file, zipped with PkZip. So you'll need to have an e-mail account that won't choke on 1 MB attachments, you'll need PkUnZip or WinZip to extract the file, and you'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader version 3.1 or higher to read the file. We've been e-mailing the Ø-Beat as an attachment since early 2000. (You can download the DOS version of PkUnZip from the Downloads page.)
- The final way is for you to just download if from this web site. Beginning January 2002 the Ø-Beat is available to all for downloading. You will still need PkUnZip or WinZip to extract the file, and Adobe Acrobat Reader version 3.1 or higher to read the file.
- ... an e-mail account that can handle file attachments.
- ... the ability to handle file attachments 1-2 MB in size.
- ... Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 or higher to read the PDF file.
- ... an optional printer if you want to print your own copy.
- ... an optional color printer to print your copy in color!
- The electronic version is produced in full color, so photographs are much more vibrant and full of life. Due to the printing process, sometimes the black/white versions of color photos lose contrast.
- You usually get it several days before the paper copy is mailed out.
- You can print it out in full color if you have a color printer.
- If you lose the paper copy you can just print out another one!
- If you delete your file, the editor can resend it!
- The electronic version will be permanently be archived on CD-ROM, so it will always be available for immediate transmission. No trips down to the copy storeor calling around for an extra copy!
